Harriet Louise Whelpley was born on 28 February 1863 at Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick, British North America.1,2,3,4 She was the daughter of Captain David C. Whelpley and Harriet Jane Pangbourne. Harriet Louise Whelpley went by the nick-name of Hattie.2 Harriet appeared on the Canadian Census of 1871 at Lepreau, New Brunswick, Canada, in the household of her parents, David C. and Harriet Jane Whelpley.5 Harriet appeared on the Canadian Census of 1881 at Lepreau, New Brunswick, Canada, in the household of her parents, David C. and Harriet Jane Whelpley.6 As of 1 May 1894,her married name was Green.
Harriet Louise Whelpley, age 31, married William Henry Green, age 31 , son of Tyler M. Green and Emily Jane Moulton or Horner, on 1 May 1894 at the Berlin, Vermont.

Harriet, age 36 years, and William Green, age 37 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 at 67 Prospect Street, Montpelier, Vermont.1 Harriet, age 46 years, and William Green, age 47 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 at Elm Street, Montpelier, Vermont.8 Harriet, age 56 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 on Elm Street, Montpelier, Vermont, living with her daughter and family. She was a widow.9 She died on 26 April 1927 at Montpelier, Vermont, at age 64. She died from lumbar pneumonia at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry White.4,2
Harriet's obituary of 26 April 1927, reads:
Harriet Louise (Whelpley) Green, 64, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry White of Berlin street, this morning at 5:30 o'clock after an illness of several months with pneumonia and complications. She was born several in St.John, N.B., Feb. 8, 1863, the daughter of David and Harriet (Pangborn) Whelpley. She was brought up and educated in St. John, coming to this city about thirty-six years ago, soon after which time she married M. H. Green, who was employed for a number of years by the E. W. Bailey company. in this city. Mr. Green died in 1917. Since that time, Mrs. Green had made her home with her daughter, and was stricken with pneumonia last November, and had been steadily growing worse. For the past twenty-five years she has been an active member of both the Pythian Sisters and the Woman's Relief corps in the local branches, and was well known throughout the city.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harry White of 170 Berlin street; a son, William P. Green, of this city; three brothers. John L. Whelpley of St. John, N. B., Charles E. Whelpley of Chicago and Percy M. Whelpley of Henniker, N. H.: two sisters, Mrs. Maggie McKenzie of New Brunswick Mrs. Lyon L. Buck of San Francisco, Cal; four grandchildren of this city, Harry, Edith, Richard and Goldie May White. There are also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will probably be held some time Thursday from the home on Berlin street, Rev. Frank Knapp officiating.
