Mary M. Travis

     Mary M. Travis was born on 23 June 1862 at Spring Glen, Ulster County, New York.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Travis and Eliza Maria Schoonmaker. Mary, age 8, appeared on the US Census of 1870 living at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York,in the household of her parents, William and Eliza Maria Travis.³ Mary, age 18, appeared on the US Census of 1880 living at Wawarsing, Ulster County, New York,in the household of her brother-in-law, Elizabeth and sister, David Dunning Travis. She had consumption.⁴ As of 25 November 1882,her married name was Rogers.

Mary M. Travis, age 20, married Andrew Rogers J.P., age 18 , son of Robert Searles Rogers and Marietta Lynch, on 25 November 1882 at Phillipsport, Sullivan County, New York.



Mary, age 37 years, and Andrew Travis, age 36 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York.² Mary, age 47 years, and Andrew Travis, age 46 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York.⁶ Mary, age 52 years, and Andrew, age 51 years , appeared on the New York State Census of 1915 at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York.⁷ Mary, age 57 years, and Andrew Travis, age 56 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York.⁸ Mary, age 77 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York. She was a widow.⁹ She died on 4 June 1947 at Middletown, Orange County, New York, at age 84.^5,1,10 Mary's obituary reads:



Mary was buried at Poplar Grove Cemetery, Phillipsport, Sullivan County, New York.¹
