     Jonathan Emery was born on 13 May 1652 at Newbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of John Emery and Mary Shatswell. On 19 December 1675, he was a member of Col. Samuel Appleton's command at the "Great Swamp Fight" during King Philip's War. Jonathan was wounded at the battle of Narragansett Fort.6,1,3,5

Jonathan Emery, age 24, married Mary Woodman, age 22 , daughter of Edward Woodman and Mary Goodridge, on 29 November 1676 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Jonathan took the Oath of Allegiance in 1678. Jonathan was mentioned in the will of his father, John Emery on 11 May 1680 at Newbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay.2 Jonathan Emery was admitted as a freeman on 19 April 1691 at Newbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay.3,5 He was mentioned in the will of his mother, Mary Shatswell on 1 April 1693 at Newbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay.3 Jonathan wrote his will on 6 February 1722/23 at Newbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay.2,5,13 He died on 29 September 1723 at Newbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay, at age 71. As his and his wife's deaths were so close, they probably died of a disease.3,1,11,5,10 His will was proved on 7 October 1723 at Essex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, and his inventory was valued at £202 2/10d.3,5,14,13
