Edmund Joseph Sullivan was born on 27 July 1921 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.1,2,3,4,5,6 He was the son of Captain Thomas Florence Sullivan and Honora Agnes Kavanaugh. Edmund was found on a passenger list arriving in Boston, Massachusetts, on 14 September 1922, age 1, on board the S.S. Sachem which had sailed from St. John's, Newfoundland the 9th of September 1922.6
Edmund, age 9, appeared on the US Census of 1930 living at 7116 Pennsylvania Avenue, Upper Darby Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, Thomas Florence and Agnes Sullivan.7 Edmund, age 18, appeared on the US Census of 1940 living at 7116 Pennsylvania Avenue, Upper Darby Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, Thomas Florence and Honora Agnes Sullivan.8
Edmund Joseph Sullivan, age 20, married Ruth V. Gallagher, age 20 , daughter of Aloysius Francis Gallagher and Elizabeth Irene Hennessey, on 15 October 1941.2,9 On on 16 February 1942, Edmund registered for the World War II draft, while living at 1208 Steele Road, Drexel Hill, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He gave his age as 20, and his employer as the Sun Shipbuilding and DD Company.5
He served during World War II from 23 December 1943 to 3 November 1945 in the Army Air Corps.3,10,11 On 23 February 1950, he applied for compensation owing to his military service.11
According to the Federal Census in 1950, Edmund was an assistant superintendent in a grocery store.12 Edmund Sullivan, 28 years, appeared as Head of Household with Ruth, his wife, on the United States Census of 1950 at 49 Ferguson Avenue, Marple Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.12 Edmund Joseph Sullivan died on 15 January 2003 at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Drexel Hill, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, at age 81 from complications of lung disease.1,3,4,13 Edmund was buried on 18 January 2003 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.10 Edmund's obituary of 18 January 2003, reads:

SULLIVAN, EDMUND J., 81 of Delaware County, PA, a retired food company executive, died Wednesday at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, PA.
Mr. Sullivan was born and raised in Upper Darby, PA and graduated from St. Lawrence School in Upper Darby and Malvern Prep in Malvern, PA. He also attended Villanova University. He was a life-long resident of Delaware County, PA, a member of St. Dorothy Church for over fifty years, and a life-long vacationer at Ocean City.
During World War I| he enlisted the Army Air Corps and served in Company 45H, piloting P-51 Mustang aircraft. Mr. Sullivan joined the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company in 1937, beginning as a clerk and rising to the position c of District Manager within Philadelphia Division. He retired tithe the A&P in 1984. Subsequently he held positions as Food Broker at Chase Goldberg and at Eisman Gleit, from which he retired in 2001,
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife to whom he was married for 61 years; daughters Denise and Shelly, sons Edmund J., Jr., Timothy, Kevin, Brian, and Mark, twenty grandchildren, and nine greatgrandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Dorothy at Township Line and Burmont Road in Drexel Hill, PA at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2003. Friends may call at noon. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
