Zoe Burnett

     Zoe Burnett was born on 11 July 1844 at Henryville, Québec, Canada.^1,2 She was the daughter of François Bonin and Zoe Babin dite LaCroix. Zoe Burnett was christened on 12 July 1844 at Église de Saint-Georges, Henryville, Québec, Canada, She was christened Zoe Bonin.¹ Zoe, age 5, appeared on the US Census of 1850 living at Johnson, Vermont,in the household of her parents, Franklin and Zoe Burnett.³ Zoe, age 15, appeared on the US Census of 1860 living at Alburgh, Vermont,in the household of her parents, Franklin and Zoe Burnett.⁴ As of 1864,her married name was Shappy.

Zoe Burnett married Lewis Shappy, son of Louis Shappy and Flavie Lambert dit Champagn, in 1864 at New York State.



Zoe, age 25 years, and Lewis Shappy, age 31 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Swanton, Vermont.⁶ Zoe and Lewis were a farm laborer in 1870.⁶ Zoe, age 35 years, and Lewis, age 41 years, appeared on the US Census of 1880 on 537 North Main Street, St. Albans, Vermont.⁷ In 1909, the year Zoe died, she lived on 96 Beacon Street, Worcester, Massachusetts.² She died on 23 March 1909 at Worcester City Hospital, Worcester, Massachusetts, at age 64 from acute articular rheumatism.^2,8 Zoe was buried on 27 March 1909 at St. Albans, Vermont.²
