François Bonin was born on 16 June 1819 at Marieville, Lower Canada, British North America.2,3 He was christened on 16 June 1819 in the Église du Saint-Nom-de-Marie, Marieville, Lower Canada, British North America.1,2

François Bonin, age 20, married Zoe Babin dite LaCroix, age 20 , daughter of Charles Babin dit LaCroix and Françoise Giroux, on 30 September 1839 at Église de Saint-Georges, Saint-Georges (now Henriville), Lower Canada, British North America.2,1
François Bonin was known as Franklin Burnett after he immegrated to the US. François Bonin went by the nick-name of Frank Burnett. He and Zoe Babin dite LaCroix immigrated circa 1840 to Alburgh, Vermont. Their first child was born in the US in August 1840. François Bonin, age 22 years, appeared on the East Canada Census of 1842 at Saint-Eustache, Québec, Canada. He is recorded as "François Burnette."4 According to the Federal Census in 1850, François was a farmer.5 Franklin Burnett, 30 years, appeared as Head of Household with Zoe, his wife, on the United States Census of 1850 at Johnson, Vermont.5 Franklin, age 40 years, and Zoe Burnett, age 40 years, appeared on the US Census of 1860 at Alburgh, Vermont.6 According to the Federal Census in 1860, François was a day laborer.6 He, age 41 years, appeared on the Canadian Census of 1861 at Berthierville, Québec, Canada. He was a day laborer in the 1860 US Census, and he may have had a short term job in Canada.7 On 4 September 1861, Francis Burnett from Alburgh, Vermont, enlisted as a private in Company C, the 5th Infantry Regiment from Vermont. He deserted on 25 October 1862, but reenlisted on 21 February 1863 in the same company. He was discharged on 20 April 1865 from wounds received.8 Frank, age 50 years, and Zoe Burnett, age 50 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Altona, Clinton County, New York.9 According to the Federal Census in 1870, François was a farmer.9 Frank, age 60 years, and Zoe Burnett, age 60 years, appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Altona, Clinton County, New York.10 According to the Federal Census in 1880, François was a farmer.10 Frank, age 72 years, appeared on the New York State Census of 1892 at Altona, Clinton County, New York.11 François appeared on the US Census of 1900 living at Altona, Clinton County, New York,in the household of his son, Nelson Burnett.12 François Bonin died on 2 June 1901 at Altona, Clinton County, New York, at age 81.13,3
