Frank William Burnett was born on 10 August 1842 at Alburgh, Vermont.1,2,3 He was the son of François Bonin and Zoe Babin dite LaCroix. Frank William Burnett was christened on 14 August 1842 at Église de Saint-Georges, Henryville, Québec, Canada, He was christened François Bonin.3 Frank, age 7, appeared on the US Census of 1850 living at Johnson, Vermont,in the household of his parents, Franklin and Zoe Burnett.4 Frank, age 16, appeared on the US Census of 1860 living at Alburgh, Vermont,in the household of his parents, Franklin and Zoe Burnett.5 According to the Federal Census in 1860, Frank was a farm laborer working on the Honsinger farm.5 In 1861 Frank lived at St. Albans, Vermont.6 On 4 September 1861, he enlisted in the 5th Vermont Infantry, Company C as a private He deserted 25 October 1862, but rejoined 21 February 1863. He was wounded in the Battle of the Wilderness on 5 May 1864. He served until April 1865.6,7,8,9
