     François Bonin was born on 30 April 1785 at Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu, Québec, British North America.1 He was christened on 1 May 1785 in the Église de Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu, Québec, British North America.1 He was the son of Louis Bonin and Marie-Françoise Grignon.1

François Bonin, age 33, married Marie Lanier, age 24 , daughter of Michel Lanier and Charlotte Brien dite DesRochers, on 26 October 1818 at Église du Saint-Nom-de-Marie, Marieville, Lower Canada, British North America.1,2 François Bonin was also known as Francis Burnett after he moved to Vermont.3 Francis Burnett, age 74 years, appeared on the US Census of 1860 at Alburgh, Vermont, living with the Dragger family.3 According to the Federal Census in 1860, Francis was a day laborer.3

Compeller's Note:
Surname: He appears in the 1860 US Census with the last name of Burnett. He probably anglicized his last name to Burnett.
