Gustavis Adolphus Gidden

     Gustavis Adolphus Gidden was born on 11 May 1908 at Tift County, Georgia.^2,3,4 He was the son of George M. Gidden and Catherine 'Cassie' Jane Powers.¹ Gustavis, age 12, appeared on the US Census of 1920 living at Tifton, Tift County, Georgia,in the household of his mother, Catherine 'Cassie' Jane Gidden.⁵

Gustavis married first, Mary _____.⁶ Gustavis, age 31 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 at Lakeland, Lanier County, Georgia, with his first wife, Mary.⁶ On on 16 October 1940, Gustavis registered for the World War II draft, while living at Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, giving his age as 32 and his employer as the Sand M. Supply Company.⁴ He enlisted in the Army on 20 June 1942 at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Georgia. Gustavis, age 41 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 at Lakeland, Lanier County, Georgia. He was separated from his wife and was unable to work.⁷

Gustavis Adolphus Gidden, age 42, married Gladys Marguertie Burnett, age 36 , daughter of Francis William Burnett and Vera May Lord, on 17 June 1950.² Gustavis Adolphus Gidden died on 4 May 1956 at Volusia County, Florida, at age 47.^2,8,3 Gustavis was buried on 14 May 1956 at City Cemetery, Lakeland, Lanier County, Georgia.³
