She was the daughter of Herbert Samuel Lord and Sarah Melissa Mayhew.
Vera May Lord married Francis William Burnett, son of Frank William Burnett and Calista Ann Prentiss, in 1899.6,1,7,2 As of 1899,her married name was Burnett. Vera, age 17 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 on 258 North Hampton Street Block L, Holyoke, Massachusetts.1 In February 1901 Vera and Francis lived at 258 Northampton Street, Holyoke, Massachusetts.8 Vera, age 27 years, and Francis, age 49 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 on West Street, Stafford, Connecticut.9 Vera and Francis were divorced in 1919.6 According to the Biddeford, Maine, City Directory, 1920, she lived in Biddeford, Maine.10 Vera May Lord and Ernest Freeman Drillen filed marriage intentions on 1 August 1922 at Bangor, Maine.11 As of 7 August 1922,her married name was Drillen.
Vera May Lord, age 40, married Ernest Freeman Drillen, age 43 , son of Henry Drillen and Mary Jane Bailey, on 7 August 1922 at Bangor, Maine. They had no children together.6,2,12
Vera, age 47 years, and Ernest, age 51 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 on 322 Broadway, Bangor, Maine.13 According to the census in 1930, Vera was a laborer working moving buildings.13 Vera, age 57 years, and Ernest, age 61 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 on 39 South Park Street, Bangor, Maine.14 Vera, age 67 years, and Ernest, age 71 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 on 39 South Park Street, Bangor, Maine.15 In 1967 Vera lived at Orange, Massachusetts, She was living on 117 Hayden Street, Orange, Massachusetts, before being admitted to a hospital in Northampton, Massachusetts.4 She died on 19 July 1967 at Northampton, Massachusetts, at age 85.2,5,4 Vera's obituary of 21 July 1967, reads:
NORTHAMPTON, Mass.-Mrs. Vera (Lord) Drillen, 85, of 117 Hayden Street, Orange, widow of Ernest F. Drillen, died Wednesday at a Northampton hospital following a long illness. Born at Hermon, Maine, April 27, 1882, she was the daughter of Herbert and Sarah (Mayhew) Lord. She had been a resident of Northampton for several years before moving to Orange. She was a member Of the Episcopal Church at Athol and the Grange at Orange. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. George Brown of Northampton, Mrs. Saville Crabtree of Easthampton, Mrs. Charles Wood of Staten Island, N. Y; two sons, Norman Burnett of Albuquerque, N. M., Raymond Burnett of Fort Ogden, Fla; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Pierce and Mrs. Hazel Storming, both of Hudson, Maine, Mrs. Gladys Ryder of East Corinth, Maine; three brothers, Charles and Lee Alexander, both of Hudson, Maine, Decatur Alexander of Bangor, Maine; 29 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Newell-Northampton Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Henry Ramsey, assistant rector of St. Johns Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.4
